One of the most important and prospective spheres of development of monolithic construction is the implementation of concrete pre- and post-stressing technology.

Within many years of building materials evolution, scientists always strived to create a surrogate of stone, as a consequence, concrete with known negative quality was created with low tensile strength.

The use of steel reinforcement or fiber prevents concrete destruction, but cracks still appear on its surface: this could be avoided by applying reinforcement and fiber, but such a structure would be very material consuming; thus, a new decision was required in order to improve structure characteristics.

According this new decision, a stressed state should be initiated in a structure at the stage of manufacturing or construction: a feature of stress in concrete becomes opposite to feature of operational load.

Experience in using the methodology of concrete pre-stressing required to achieve the level of rigidity and baring capacity of a structure suggests that this technology is the only efficient and economically advantageous one in construction of buildings and structures, especially if application of reinforced concrete structures without pre-stressing is technically impossible or leads to excessive consumption of concrete and steel.

Pre-stressing solves the issue related to crack resistance of concrete structure under huge dynamic loads of equipment that is mounted on this foundation. Pre-stressing of raw material silo allows construction height up to 80 m, if wall thickness is equal to 300 mm.
